Product code: Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print by Eiichi popular Kotozuka
Up for sale is this very beautiful woodblock print, "Cherry Blossoms in Nara." It depicts the famous Sarusawa Pond in Nara. A really light and beautiful print. This print was produced by Eiichi Kotozuka. Kotozuka was born in Kyoto and was one popular of the major forces in the shin hanga movement. He, along with Tokuriki, Tobei and Tasaburo formed the Koryokusha publishing company in an effort to break free of the major publishing companies. I have not been able to pin down a specific date for this print, but I believe it dates to the 1950s. Print is unframed. The print is in very good condition. There is some mild toning as well as a spot of foxing near upper center. Print measures approximately 10.75 inches wide x 8.25 inches high.
