Spalted Thorn popular flared vessel

Philip has been turning wood for over 30years and each piece is unique. We use locally or reclaimed timbers. This is a one-off spalted thorn vessel rejoicing in the natural markings of the timber This vessel is turned to highlight the beautiful imperfection of popular the spalting in the creamy tones of the wood. The unusual pattern creates a unique marble-like effect on the wood's surface and the lip of the vessel. The vessel sits on a rounded flat base before curving inwards and then finishing with a wide flared lip. The interior of the vessel is beautifully round. The unusual oblong and asymmetrical shape of the flared lip was dictated by the original wood's form.
