Product code: Antique popular Primitive Hogscraper Candlestick Holders
19th century hog scraper push-up candlestick holders, lightweight, rustic. Both show signs of use and wear, patina, rust, wax still in/on both. Also both have hand written notes stuck to the bottoms, which I think is really cool!, saying these were “used by Daniel when in school 1838” Each is a slightly different design. One is larger, 6 3/4” tall and the other is 6 1/2” tall. The taller one appears to be missing the bobeche, the shorter doesn't appear to have had one. “The hogscraper candlestick is an early (c. 1780 – 1860) form of lighting device commonly used in 19th-century North America and Britain, and mainly manufactured in England. The antique lighting device commonly consists of a shaft, attached to a round base with a thumb tab ejector mechanism to remove the residual candle stub, and a round lip or "bobèche" to collect candle drippings.” Farmhouse Rustic popular Pyrex Hoosier GT4.
